What are the terms used in CheckWorkRights?

There are many terms used whilst managing recruitment and employee working rights that can be new to some users. On this page you will find a list and explanation of some of the words used across the CheckWorkRights application.

API: An application programming interface is a way for two or more computer programs to communicate with each other.

Awaiting Employee Response: A check request has been sent to an employee, and now waiting for them to respond with the document evidence.

Business Unit: A group of users. (e.g. store location, grouped by state, teams, departments, etc.)

CWR: CheckWorkRights, our team and our application. The best automated VEVO tool in the Australian market.

Default Verifier: A user who has been assigned as the primary verifier for a business unit, group of employees, or potentially the entire organisation.

Document Verification: A list of employees who have submitted evidence of their requested check, where a verifier will be required to confirm identity of the individual, and review the evidence to 'Approve' or 'Reject' the evidence supplied.

Subclass: The designation number of the visa, e.g. 100 Partner Visa, 500 Student visa etc.

UNLIMITED: A Work Entitlement result that indicates the user has no work limitations, e.g. Permanent Residents, NZ Citizens, or Australian Citizens.

Verifier: A CWR user who can review document evidence, and 'Approve' or 'Reject' an employees evidence submission.

VEVO: Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) is the system the Australian Government uses to check visa holders to check their visa details and conditions online, and determine their citizenship within Australia.

Visa Condition/s: Limitations put onto a visa by DHA. Commonly relate to working rights - where an individual can work, how long they can work, etc.

Webhook: The functionality that gives CWR the ability to provide real time status updates to other applications (ATS, HRIS, Payroll etc.)

Work Entitlement: A Work Entitlement check uses the VEVO system to identify an employees right to work in Australia, and any visa details and conditions associated with their Work Entitlement status.
