Each employee will have different working rights, and may require different documents for each submission. To help you understand what types of documents are required for each situation, you must first understand why we request these documents. ### **Proof of Working Rights** When applying for any role in Australia, you are required to provide evidence that you are legally entitled to work. This could include a passport, birth certificate, or Immi-card. | Each submission must contain a clear photo/image of the employee for verification purposes. Citizenship or Birth Certificates must be accompanied with Photo ID. | | --- | The following options are accepted for verifying working rights: ### **Australian Citizen:** - Australian Passport - Australian Birth Certificate with Photo ID, or - Australian Citizenship Certificate with Photo ID. ### **Foreign Citizens (Any Non-Australian Citizen):** - Passport - Travel Document (older version of a passport), or - ImmiCard. ### **Accepted Submission Examples - Australian Citizen** ### **Australian Passport** The passport must be Australian. The passport image must show the entire photo page of the passport including the MRZ (Machine readable zone). The machine readable zone is the two lines of text that appear at the bottom of the passport photo page. These were issued prior to passports or immi-cards. ![](https://support.checkworkrights.com.au/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/aus-travel-doc-sample-1.png) ### **ImmiCard** An ImmiCard is issued to certain visa holders who don’t have and can’t obtain a passport recognised by the Australian Government. There are four types of ImmiCards; **Australian Migration Status (AMS), Evidence of Immigration (EIS) ImmiCard, Permanent Resident Evidence (PRE), Residence Determination (RDI).** The ImmiCard Number format is 3 alpha characters followed by 6 numeric characters. ![](https://support.checkworkrights.com.au/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/immicard-eis-1.jpg) ### **Rejected Submission Examples** ### **Immi Grant Letters** Often confused for Travel Documents, Immi-Grant Letters are not a sufficient form of working rights evidence.
